Day1| Pokhara to Grandruk
,It’s too late to apply our trekking permits when we arrived in Pokhara. It’s better to arrive at the tourism board by 3:00 PM for permits because they usually close up around 4:00 PM, whether you’re in Pokhara or in Kathmandu. After discussing with our guide in the Elia hotel , request the hotel’s assistance with the application process. We enjoyed a nice brunch while waiting for the permit and depart after the Jeep is ready. There is one thing I really shocked. About 10 minutes after ordering our breakfast, we saw the waiter from the restaurant bringing back toast from outside… I smell a rat about this, and yeah! It took them a god half-hour to serve the food we ordered while we finished the meal in just 10 minutes! We also wandered around the Pokhara forw renting climbing poles, sleeping bags, and the backpack for our guide to carry. If one of our ladies bought a climbing backpack, the rest of ladies followed. Purchasing power is truly non stoppable.

Due to Nepal’s official announcement that all trekkers must have a guide accompanying on April 1st, one guide trek with us this time.He is nice to helped carrying the luggage for our four elderly members, usually porters are needed .We had planned to take a bus to Nayapul, walked to the trekking entry point in Birethanti, and then trek to Ghandruk. Well since we have four elderly members in the team and it was already noon when we departed, we decided to arrive Ghandruk directly by jeep🚗. Before getting on jeep, they informed us about a roadblock by the landslide, so jeep can only go as far as Kimche, which is the stop before Ghandruk, and then walk for another 50 minutes to get Ghandruk. The hotel owner’s aunty ordered Tikka for our guide, and she did the same for us telling us that this a form of blessing. What’s even funnier is that the sweat caused the Tika on Auntie’s face to smudge, leaving visible marks—red ink everywhere on face! Ohh!! 😊we only found out once we were on the trek that it was our guide’s birthday, and he was working on his birthday! We celebrated his birthday with candies.

After passing the Birethanti bridge at the entrance, we reached the checkpoint at the trekking entry point where we had to get our permits stamped. We were so Luck, Seeing two mule caravans on the way up! They made a jingling sound, that is the sign to notify the trekker to move aside. It’s better not trying to interact with them, because they will take it as provoking and might kick you by your action ! The 50-minute trek took us 1.5 hour. We found our accommodation before heavy rain. Hotel Hungry Eye had a fantastic rooftop view of Fish Tail Peak and Annapurna Range. There was a person from a Nordic country who stayed here for 4 days because he said just looking at this beautiful view could heal the soul! It was indeed breathtaking, and we followed his lead by sitting on the rooftop and contemplating.
